Augustine Paredes
b. 1994, Philippines
Augustine is an artist, writer, and photographer currently living and working between Frankfurt and London.
His expanded photographic practice is rooted in questioning the postcolonial identity of a Filipino in diaspora through different appropriations of artistic mediums, traditional materials, queer gaze, and historical narratives. He works with image-making via photography, painting, poetry, performance, and installation.
He is a co-founder of Sa Tahanan Collective along with Anna Bernice delos Reyes, dedicated to creating a platform for Filipino art and creatives through exhibitions, art sales, and collaborations.
He published art and poetry books entitled Slow Disco (2024), The Bitter Taste of Sweetness (2022), Happy to be here to be happy (2022), Long Night Stands With Lonely, Lonely Boys (2021) and Conversations at the end of the universe (2020).
In 2o25, Pareds established Friendly Fires Small Press to support fellow artists in producing limited edition printed matter.
